Overnight, gold and silver showed strength but were fading up until the release.

美國勞工部公布，由於早前颶風哈維刺激能源價格急升，9月份消費物價指數加快至0.5%，但低過預期0.6%增幅，按年則升2.2%，亦低過預期增長2.3%，而扣除食品及能源的核心指數升幅放緩至0.1%，低於預期增長0.2%。

另外，商務部公布，9月零售銷售升1.6%，創2015年3月以來最大升幅，主要受颶風過後的相關消費帶動，但仍略低預期增加1.7%，當中汽車銷售急升3.6%，而扣除汽車及汽油的銷售增長0.5%，高過預期0.4%增幅。
