電玩主機在地震時還有妙用？任天堂免費替日本能登半島災民修主機
日本能登半島強震發生至今近3周，後續的災民安置、避難等問題仍然是嚴峻考驗。
全球知名的日本遊戲大廠任天堂（Nintendo）公告，災民若有任天堂的主機或硬件產品，可以免費維修，同時也捐款5000萬日圓（約港幣260萬）賑災。消息公布後旋即引發日本網絡話題，此外也有民眾發現任天堂Switch可以當作行動電源使用，在災區也能臨時派上用場；其實攜帶型主機過去在地震中，曾因為GPS功能而發揮作用，日本也將家庭普及的遊戲主機，作為防災知識傳遞的管道之一。
任天堂16日表示，如果有能登半島災民持有的任天堂遊戲主機或相關硬件產品損壞，不需要提供產品保證書，也不需要在保養期內，公司都會無償提供維修服務。
儘管維修服務適用的機種，僅限於目前任天堂還能夠申請維修的品項（主要以Switch為主，其他諸如3DS就有部分主機已不再提供修理服務），但消息公布後，旋即在日本網絡上掀起議論與好評，有災民表示，地震後看到自己的Switch破破爛爛的實在很難過，很高興任天堂及時提供這樣的免費服務，「希望能早日回到那個可以在家打機的生活日常。」
雖然在部分外人眼裡，地震後「維修電玩主機」並不是什麼當務之急，但對於玩家或是一些家庭來說，電玩主機可能是日常生活的象徵，也是避難生活時緩解壓力的方式之一。特別是任天堂的Switch，受到不少日本家庭喜愛，在日本國內累計銷售突破3000萬台。
電玩主機和地震還有什麼關連？就在能登半島地震後，有日本民眾發現，Switch可以用來當作臨時行動電源，只要準備好接頭就可以反向替手機充電。這個資訊很快在網上傳開，日本網媒《Lmaga》向任天堂求證，證實的確可以替手機充電，但任天堂官方明確表示：「並不建議將Switch作為行動電源使用」。
過去最知名案例，是2011年3月11日的東日本大地震，當時有許多民眾發現，攜帶型電玩主機如任天堂DS、SONY的PSP等，因為內建有GPS定位的關係，在地震後可以發揮功能，甚至有災區民眾用NDS搜尋，找到附近其他持有NDS的災民。其它包括NDS、後來的3DS主機，搭配外接配件後還可以接受電視訊號，用主機作為災區資訊接收工具。不過，目前Switch並沒有內建GPS功能。
由於NDS和3DS普及度高，日本也有業者將防災資訊改作為遊戲軟件，期望透過遊戲方式促進防災知識普及。

「盲搶鹽」再現 特區政府重申存貨充足 商會指易變壞勿囤積
日本政府啟動排放核污水到大海的計劃後，引起各地民眾擔心受核輻射影響，有人更誤信碘質是放射性物質的「解毒劑」。由於坊間的海鹽加入少量碘質，觸發各地「盲搶鹽」熱潮，更席捲香港。昨日，全港多區的超市及雜貨店都出現買鹽的人潮。香港文匯報記者到超市觀察，發現不少超市擺放食鹽的貨架都出現缺貨情況，尤其標榜加入較多碘的「碘鹽」雖售價較貴卻最搶手，反而日本製的海鹽無人問津。特區政府表示，沒有科學證據顯示進食碘含量豐富的食物和碘鹽可有效預防輻射，籲市民切勿誤信謠言。同時，政府已聯絡各大型超市，得悉貨架清空是物流未趕上引致，而香港的食鹽儲存量足夠全港市民約1個月用，市民無須擔心供應，更無須囤積。

繼澳門有超市於前日起出現搶購食鹽的情況，香港昨日亦出現「盲搶鹽」。不少社交平台都有市民反映，食鹽突然被人搶購一空，更有市民流傳不同地點的超市食鹽貨架被清空的照片及帖文，一名將軍澳街坊在網上訴苦：「阿媽突然打電話畀我叫我去買鹽，話街市超市啲鹽全部俾人搶晒。」有市民曾走訪兩間大型超市亦買不到食鹽，有市民則一口氣買五六包鹽。
日本海鹽乏人問津
香港文匯報記者昨日到多區的超市及雜貨店了解，發現個別食鹽有「缺貨」情況。有關貨架的產品包括多款海鹽、粗鹽、含碘的鹽等，但都貼上「抱歉，好快會返貨啦」，有些被清空的貨架改為擺放白砂糖，貨架只餘較貴價的岩鹽和礦物鹽，以及大量日本海鹽無人問津。
記者又到荃灣多間超市，發現海鹽同樣被搶購一空，其中一間超市的貨架空空如也，奇怪的是日本出產的海鹽無人認購。劉女士向記者解釋，「啲人話海鹽可以抗輻射，加咗碘更好，但一來到已賣晒，我走咗五六間都無晒貨。」陳先生則表示，擔心核污水污染日後生產的海鹽，所以搶購日本未排污前的海鹽。至於為何嫌棄日本海鹽，他說：「日本話周四（24日）排啫，點知佢之前係咪偷步排（放）咗。」
對市面出現「搶鹽潮」，九龍總商會副理事長李豐年昨日接受香港文匯報記者查詢時表示，其經營的店舖亦有市民因擔心輻射影響，一口氣買幾包「碘鹽」。他呼籲市民切勿囤積食鹽，特別是最近香港天氣較潮濕，導致囤積食鹽容易變壞，「儲都冇用。」
他強調，「盲搶鹽」屬「兩三日風波」，而本港食鹽一向供應充足穩定，「一向都唔缺貨。」由於香港主要從內地進口食鹽，較少進口日本的食鹽，即使內地出現短暫短缺，價格或短暫提高，香港也可從全世界其他地區進口食鹽。
百佳及惠康超級市場回應查詢時表示，食鹽供應穩定，會密切留意顧客需求，同時會與供應商緊密聯繫，按需求增加貨量。其中，百佳表示暫時沒有對食鹽實施限購措施，但會因應市場情況及顧客需求，隨時作出調整。
日本供港食鹽量不足1%
特區政府表示，香港食鹽供應穩定及存貨充足，儲存量足夠全港市民約1個月用，市民不用擔心供應，更無須儲存食鹽。根據統計處資料顯示，香港食鹽主要來自中國內地、馬來西亞及澳洲，日本食鹽只佔整體供應不足1%。特區政府限制日本10個都縣水產品進口，絕對不會影響本港食鹽供應。
食物安全中心指出，沒有科學證據顯示進食碘含量豐富的食物和碘鹽可有效預防輻射。城巿大學海洋污染國家重點實驗室主任、食物及環境衞生諮詢委員會主席梁美儀表示，「碘鹽」並不能抗輻射。
專家：過量攝取反損健康
他解釋，碘鹽碘含量低，亦無科學證據顯示進食鹽可以有效預防輻射對身體造成的損害，反而過量攝入碘及鈉（鹽）會危害身體健康，增加患上高血壓及心血管疾病的風險。
梁美儀表示，市民無須過分擔心，因為現時食安中心、漁護署每天都會公布有關輻射水平檢測結果。

陳沛然倡提早糧食儲備防隔離 選擇可室溫長時間存放食物
一早要儲糧啦, 而在通脹時代, 儲糧可以慳錢......見到特價又可以買多少來儲....
葵涌邨爆發疫情，兩座居民需要禁足強檢5日。前立法會議員陳沛然在網上發文，建議市民提早準備存放時間較長的糧食儲備。
陳沛然昨日在網誌中發文，指「有人跟我說，最怕不是染病，最怕是無端端被隔離5至21日。所以，是時候適當儲糧。暫時目標是自給自足過5天，記得要留意食物的過期日子。」他又建議，應依照「健康飲食金字塔」的原則，以穀物類為主，包括米、麵、公仔麵、意粉，可存放時間較長，並指要準備一點蔬菜及水果，和適量的肉、魚、蛋和奶類。他今日再發文，指留意到市民的雪櫃地方有限，故建議多選擇一些可室溫存放的食物，並列出糧食儲備的建議名單。

I do hope that people are starting to get it: The crack-up boom has begun, and contrary to what most in the mainstream believe, it’s starting in America, and it will spread outwards.

Yeah, well, today’s news is brand new spending and spending enhancements that will supposedly ease the pain on Main Street until we get to the next round of fiscal stimulus.
Keep in mind that in addition to the latest round of stimulus, the latest round of Economic Impact Payments (the $600 stimulus checks) are still making their way to eligible taxpayers because yes, paper checks are still a thing.

In the first order, Biden will ask the Treasury Department to consider taking steps to expand and improve delivery of stimulus checks, such as establishing online tools for claiming payments.

Of course, this should come as no surprise.
In my opinion, the helicopter money is picking up, not slowing down, and what Reuters is reporting on today seems to confirm this.

Biden will also seek to increase access to food for millions of children who are missing meals because schools are closed due to the pandemic.
He will ask the Agriculture Department (USDA) to consider issuing new guidance that would increase the aid given to families who normally rely on schools to provide a main meal of the day for their children.
This is such a sad day in America to think that for millions of kids, the “main meal” of the day is provided by government.
It’s also scary, and not only that, but whenever the government “does something”, it always costs way more than it otherwise would cost, and I’m not even just talking about the massive levels of fraud, waste and abuse, but the simple fact that a “free lunch” from the government is actually the very most expensive lunch there could ever be.
People forget about the food rationing in America during World War II, and I would not be surprised to see forced food rationing begin sometime this year.
But hey, we’re all in this together as one united family!
And the government will take care of all of our needs and most of our wants!
And it’s all for free!

Now, the other executive order helps protect useless Federal employees who should be fired from getting fired, the order promotes a $15 minimum wage, and the order revokes some of former President Trump’s Executive Orders.
Ahh, isn’t it great that with the stroke of a pen we can have all of our problems solved?
The bottom line?
People looking only at each round of “stimulus” as the inflation are totally missing it.
There are plenty of backdoor programs that are printing massive amounts of funny money and pumping it into the real economy.
I got an email from our school district last week.
Apparently, because of the shutdowns, lockdowns and the killing of that which is normal, the one high school in our small town missed out on $80,000 in revenue for the various sports programs, and they’re asking for donations.
That said, what is very, very interesting, is that this area is generally considered middle class to affluent, and yet, every single student in the district is getting free lunches every single day, and free breakfast every single day if they want it.
Here’s the point: Connect the dots, and notice all of the ways the US Federal government is spending, and also notice how it is now becoming very, very hard to keep track of it all.
In other words, the $900 billion stimulus package Trump signed at the end of December is being doled out right now, all the while there is another stimulus package presumably in the chute, and between Federal government agencies pushing out various decrees and edicts about free this and free that, along with Presidential Executive Orders, Disaster Declarations, and a whole host of other “petty cash drawer” whimsical spending, the money printing and stimulus are now overlapping and becoming very blurred, making it hard to keep track of all the spending.
I imagine there are huge cash grabs happening throughout the Federal government too, cash grabs which will only add fuel to the hyperinflationary fire.

Food Shortages From Theoretical To Real: The US Is Running Out of These 9 Foods FAST

Over the past several weeks, I have written numerous articles on the state of the food supply chain and the coming food shortages. From the time I began writing those articles to now, pending food shortage claims have gone from “dangerous conspiracy theories” to mainstream news topics.
While the government began the alleged pandemic stating that there were no disruptions to the supply chain (which was patently absurd), it now openly admits there “may” be shortages of certain foods and supplies over the coming months.
The concept of food shortages has gone from theoretical to real
As governments continue to use COVID as an excuse to enable their ulterior motives, the financial stability of many will become shakier. That will cause consumer’s habits to change. Shoppers will be less likely to buy luxury foods. As a result of the change in these habits, the supply itself will drastically change. And in addition to all that, producers are going to have difficulty processing and packaging foods.
The food shortages and are now being openly discussed, even in mainstream circles. For instance, Carolyn Dimitri, associate professor of nutrition and food studies at New York University, says:
“Because agriculture is so labor dependent, if you end up having a huge outbreak during the planting season or the harvest season (and it’s kind of hard to predict when that will happen) it will disrupt the ability of people to work either on the farm or in the processing facilities, and there will continually be problems.” (source)
Items consumers may see less of in the coming months
An article published on Business Insider offers some insight into the possible shortages we may be facing, as well as explanations for why this may be happening. Here are 9 of those items:
Beef – The National Cattleman’s Beef Association has stated that cattle ranchers face over $13 billion in losses that will continue through 2021. The Food and Environment Reporting Network has claimed over 11,496 factory workers in the meatpacking industry, and food plants have contracted COVID.
Those claims are significant not because of the virus itself but because of the shutdowns and strain it puts on the individual factories, consumers, and industry as a whole.
Pork – NPR has reported that a Smithfield pork processing plant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, recently shut down after around 300 employees tested positive for COVID. The facility did reopen, but other facilities are at risk of experiencing the same thing. Keep in mind that the factory supplies between 4 and 5% of the US pork supply.
Chicken – Chicken plants are also in danger due to the “close quarters” of the facilities.
Whole Deli Sections – Gomez also pointed out that deli sections, in general, are in danger because they “typically need more employees and preparation in-store.”
Imported foods – “Many countries that export commodities are worried about food security. In response, some are restricting exports of certain commodities to ensure enough availability in the countries,” said Gomez.
Highly Perishable Foods – As the food supply begins to show signs of weakening, consumers are likely to pass over foods with a short shelf life in favor of more easily stored products. Lockdowns and shutdowns will likely create the same reaction.
“In terms of what we see consumers buying more of, we see things they can store for a long time,” Gomez said. “For example, they prefer to buy apples because they last longer in the refrigerator than broccoli or things that are very perishable.”
Think about what happens when the tide begins to turn, and consumers start buying more storable goods. How long do you think those storable goods are going to last on the shelves? What will the next empty shelf syndrome be?
“Fancy” perishables and berries – The shift from buying fancy foods to basics has already begun. Instead of buying more expensive fruits, consumers are buying basic, cheaper fruits like bananas and oranges.
With consumers being thrifty with their food budgets by not buying expensive products, the supply chain will be further affected. Those less expensive items will eventually become hard to get as well.
Lettuce – There is already a lettuce shortage happening right now. Due to extreme heat, fires, and a virus attacking lettuce plants in California, lettuce is currently in short supply, with major chains like Wendy’s already limiting the vegetable on their sandwiches.
Seasonable fruits and vegetables – According to Dimitri, these items are already experiencing a “change” in supply.
“We are heading into the US domestic production season, and we tend to supply most of the produce until the early winter, so I don’t anticipate seeing a huge effect at the grocery store until we have a change in season,” she said.
Dimitri explained that labor shortage in other countries and the slow down in the supply chain would result in spoiled produce before reaching the United States.
Prepare now.
Food shortage is no longer a conspiracy theory. These experts are advising us to take action now. Keep in mind we may soon be facing another round of lockdowns, which will strain the supply chain even further.

While there’s still some time to prepare, events are unfolding quickly. We’ve watched a similar scenario unfold in Venezuela. Let that be a cautionary tale and purchase while you can. After that, focus on what you can produce or acquire locally – the global supply chain is no longer a reliable source of food.

【健康talk】罐頭含防腐劑高鹽高油？三招教你揀得更健康
抗疫期間不少市民留家煮食，方便的罐頭也成為家中必備。不少人認為罐頭含大量防腐劑、高鹽高油，非常不健康，但其實只要破解以下幾個迷思，識揀一樣可以對身體有益。
罐頭含防腐劑？
罐頭保存期耐，不少人認為一定加入了大量防腐劑。但其實罐頭利用的是真空原理，絕大部分食物經過高溫殺菌，再真空存放，可以長時間保存。反而揀罐頭時應留意的是表面有無破裂、漲氣或漏氣，一旦罐頭不密封，空氣走入就會令食物變壞。
罐頭無營養？
高溫會破壞部份水溶性維他命，例如維他命C，但大部分但礦物質和脂溶性維他命都不會流失。而魚類罐頭如沙甸魚、吞拿魚營養反而更多，因魚骨經處理後可以直接食用，吸取鈣質，一般一條沙甸魚已等同三分一杯牛奶的鈣質含量。但不同牌子因製作方法不同，營養成分可以有很大差異，因此選購時應比較不同牌子的營養標籤和參考消委會調查結果。
罐頭高鹽高油？
罐頭食物的確會加入大量調味料和醬汁醃製，購買時要按自己身體狀況選擇，例如老人家不應揀高鹽高鈉的罐頭。另外可首選用「礦泉水浸」罐頭，較用「鹽水」罐頭鈉含量低，也不會似「油浸」罐頭脂肪高。而水果罐頭則可選用「原汁」浸製，相對糖份較低。另外要留意食用時不應飲用醬汁，例如茄汁焗豆就最好「隔汁」食用。

中國傳囤積重要物資 防國際關係風險

報道指出，中國官方數據顯示，今年首7個月，中國進口了3.2億噸原油，按年上升12%。根據路孚特(Refinitiv)追蹤船運後發現，8月伊朗油輪曾數次停泊中國，9月也將如此。鑑於石油需求因疫情而重挫，外界普遍認為中國有意趁低買入，以加速囤積石油。
此外，外界估計中國在2015年至2016年間，曾購買超過2000噸的鈷礦。該金屬可被用於電動車鋰電池等領域。今年8月，中國國有企業北京安泰科信息開發公司發布報告，建議中國再增加2000噸的鈷礦儲備，而在上周生效的法律中，亦規定有關私部門儲備鉀礦的補貼，以確保化肥原料充足。
中國除黃豆、玉米之外的糧食也出現大幅增加的情況，美國商務部數據顯示，中國在截至2019至2020行銷年度，一共儲備逾1.5億噸小麥，較3年前增加30%；稻米的儲備亦高達1.1億噸，增近20%。
報道引述一間日本大型貿易商代表表示，雖然中期之內，中國不太可能看到短缺問題，但北京仍然在為國際關係風險作準備。

What has just been revealed about the “new food warehouse” in Washington state should be a major red flag for all of us. Most Americans seem to believe that the COVID-19 pandemic, the enormous economic problems that have erupted and the nightmarish civil unrest that has been raging in our major cities are all just temporary phenomenons and that life will eventually get back to normal. Meanwhile, authorities in Washington state are acting as if what we have experienced so far is just the beginning. According to the Seattle Times, stockpiles of food are being stacked all the way to the roof in “Washington state’s new food warehouse”…
In Washington state’s new food warehouse, there’s enough Jif peanut butter to make nearly 3 million sandwiches.
Barilla pasta boxes stretch to the ceiling, 100,000 in all. Large stacks of TreeTop applesauce, pancake mix and canned green beans sit on pallets, like soldiers waiting to be sent into duty.That seems like quite an odd thing to do if happy days are right around the corner.
So what prompted authorities in Washington state to do this?
Well, we are being told that the purpose is to “ward off a shortage in the months ahead”…
After seeing food banks struggle to meet demand once the pandemic hit and the economy tanked, the Washington state Department of Agriculture (WSDA) began preparing to buy and stockpile tons of food to ward off a shortage in the months ahead.A “shortage” of food in the months ahead?
That is quite a statement to make.
In a previous article, I detailed that we are already witnessing periodic shortages of aluminum cans, soda, flour, canned soup, pasta and rice. But what is happening in Washington makes it sound like they believe that what is ahead will be far, far more severe.
Up to this point, Washington state has spent a total of 6.1 million dollars on 4,000 pallets of food, but only about one-fourth of the orders that they have placed have already arrived.
Could it be possible that the other 49 states and the federal government are doing the exact same thing?
So why hasn’t the rest of the food arrived yet?
Unfortunately, I don’t have an answer to that question today. If anyone out there has any leads or intel that will help me to answer that question, please let me know.

Thousands of people have lined up at a Texas food bank, with cars stretching for a mile as the state struggles with being the third worst affected by the coronavirus outbreak.As I discuss in my new book, we were specifically warned in advance that this was coming, and it certainly appears that poverty is only going to continue to grow in the months ahead.
Fair Park in Dallas County held its fourth food drive since the pandemic was declared in March but the event on Tuesday was the first mega distribution that offered an option for several hundred walk-up clients without transportation.
One man that was interviewed by the local CBS affiliate said that his family would “probably go hungry” if it wasn’t for food distribution events such as this…
“If it wasn’t for this, we’d probably go hungry,” shared Richard Archer.
Archer says his daughter heard about the food giveaway on the news and sent him to get food.
“With unemployment benefits cut, her husband’s been laid off for three months. So, it’s just been a struggle. If it wasn’t for church, and food giveaways, the kids would be going hungry.”So many families are deeply struggling out there right now, and they need our prayer.
Food supplies are tight nationwide, and they are only going to get tighter. And this week food production was hit by another substantial blow when an extremely powerful derecho roared through several important farming states in the middle of the country…
The rare storm known as a derecho hit Monday, devastating parts of the power grid, flattening valuable corn fields and killing at least two people. It produced winds of up to 112 mph near Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and toppled trees, snapped poles, downed power lines and tore off roofs from eastern Nebraska to Indiana.
“It feels like we got kicked in the teeth pretty good,” said Dale Todd, a member of Cedar Rapids’ city council. “Recovery will be methodical, and slow. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig said Tuesday that about 10 million acres of Iowa’s nearly 31 million acres of agricultural land sustained damage. About 24 million acres of that is typically planted primarily with corn and soybeans.
In addition, tens of millions of bushels of grain that were stored at co-ops and on farms were damaged or destroyed when bins blew away.Throughout 2020, we have been hit by one disaster after another.
We keep being told that everything will “return to normal” soon, but meanwhile authorities in Washington state are stockpiling food on a scale that we have never seen before.
And if we discover that officials in other states are doing the same thing, that would suggest some sort of nationwide pattern.
I have never used Washington state as a positive example before, and I may never do it again, but in this instance I would recommend doing exactly what they are doing.
Stockpile food while you still can, because very difficult times are approaching. Yes, things are already quite chaotic out there, but I would use the month of August to finish your preparations because things are only going to get even crazier in the months ahead.

We should all be prepared for what’s coming next. In order to prepare effectively, we need to know what will happen when the economy finally collapses under its own weight. The creation of money out of thin air could only go on for so long, and we are approaching the end.
Epic Economist put together a great video detailing the 15 things (and yes, some are a little scary) that will happen when the economy collapses. At this point in time and history, it is no surprise that an economic collapse is coming for us. When the world’s largest economy is deep down in a recession, many other countries will not be late to follow the same path.
The financial breakdown the world is about to face over the next few years will be an unprecedented catastrophe, especially considering that the underlying problems from previous crashes were never fixed, only mended together. A real repair would require a complete restructuration in the system, and the elites were never interested in fixing the system that they set up to screw the rest of us.
These are the 15 things that will happen that you should be prepared for:
1 -Fuel Shortages, or rationing of fuelKnowing that these things are likely to happen when the economy collapses should help give you an idea of what you’re going to need to be prepared. Make sure you know how to defend yourself and your family. Make sure you have a way to filter water. You will need to be able to avoid crowds and live on your own, potentially off the grid. Become self-reliant and do not put your faith in the system. Most people are still desperately fighting to keep the system intact in spite of the awareness that it’s rigged and corrupt. Instead, leave the system, put your faith in yourself, improve critical thinking skills, and create your back up plans.

"Cashless" Sweden Suddenly Warns Citizens: Hoard Banknotes & Coins In Case Of Cyber-Attack Or War
For years, we have commented on the Swedish government and the Riksbank pushing for a “cashless society.”
The Riksbank has over 1,000 articles posted on its website on the “cashless society“. The emphasis worked: between 2013 and 2017, the amount of cash in circulation dropped by 35%, earning Sweden a reputation as the world’s “most cashless nation”:
Many of Sweden’s bank branches had stopped handling cash altogether.
Figures from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm show that only 18% of all payments made today in Sweden are in cash – a 15% drop from the previous year. Meanwhile figures from the Swedish Trade Federation show that most Swedish retailers say that 80% of their commerce is from card payments. A number that probably will be 90% by 2020. Such is the appetite for digital commerce in Sweden that many predicted it could become the world’s first cashless society.
But, now, as The Daily Mail reports, The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, an arm of the government, has sent guidance to every home telling residents to squirrel away “cash in small denominations” in case of emergencies ranging from power cuts or technology glitches to terrorism, cyber-attacks by a rogue government or war.
Riksbank, the country's central bank, last week called for an inquiry into the risks posed by a future cashless society.
Officials told parliament that hard cash was important "not just in times of crisis and war, but also in peacetime."In December, Britain’s Access to Cash Review warned that Britain too was ‘sleepwalking into a cashless society’, the Daily Mail reported.
Chair Natalie Ceeney said, "If we don’t take action now in this country, we’re only a couple of years away from Sweden."
"Sweden’s big message to us is, 'Plan now before you get into a mess'.” Sweden hit its crisis when its equivalent of the NHS declared it was going cashless."As the age of NIRP “gradually” comes to a close, much of the excitement about ushering in a cashless nirvana appears to be fading with it. Following on the heels of comments by senior ECB board members in defense of cashas well as an open admission by the European Commission that physical cash is perhaps not quite the source of all evil, the Riksbank’s decision to safeguard the role of cash in the financial economy is the biggest sign yet that Europe is giving up on its war on cash, and is instead allowing people switch to cashless payments systems at their own pace, however long that may take.
But now that the world's bankers are pivoting back to their dovish stance, how long before the return to NIRP (or ZIRP in the US) prompts a renwed war on cash?
